Collect data about your target audience’s habits and preferences through intercepts, exit interviews, and mystery shopping.
We frequently design and conduct these types of studies across Canada and the US, providing excellent quality data that our clients can apply to their objectives.
Our Software Technology
Computer-Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI)
We use advanced CAPI software for our intercept and on-site interview research.
Interviews can be conducted using tablets or smartphones, and are conducted independently of our servers, so a Wi-Fi or data connection is not required at the time of the interview. Information is automatically relayed to the remote server as soon as a communication link is available; this may be at the end of each interview or each shift, depending on the requirements of the study to monitor results in real time.
Intercepts are a great way to collect marketing data from customers on-site to gain immediate, in-context feedback about your business or location.
We offer multilingual experienced interviewers who can conduct surveys in English, French, Chinese, Punjabi, and Spanish. We can also translate our questionnaires into any other major language to allow respondents to complete the survey in their preferred language.
We offer competitively-priced street, store, and mall intercept services across Canada and the United States.
How We Conduct Intercept Interviews
Trained interviewers select respondents by stopping them in a public place such as a grocery store or a shopping mall, and then administering a short survey on a laptop, tablet, or pencil and paper about consumer behaviours, habits, preferences, or perceptions. Our experienced interviewers are skilled in selecting a representative population and developing rapport to elicit honest responses.
We typically use a dozen interviewers stationed at several locations for three to five days, resulting in 200 to 500 responses. Intercept surveys are a powerful technique, and in many cases match or exceed the reliability of online samples.
Where We Conduct Intercept Interviews
Due to the geographical distribution of new Canadians, intercept interviews are typically conducted in the Greater Toronto Area, the Greater Vancouver Area, Calgary, and Montreal.
Popular locations for intercept surveys include:
- Ethnic grocery stores and supermarkets
- Ethnic community centres
- Locations where ethnic groups gather (plazas, concerts, restaurants, etc.)
- Ethnic events (Chinese New Year, Diwali, and other holidays)
- Ethnic malls
The Benefits of Intercept Interviews
The strategic advantages of intercept surveys include:
- Quick turn-around time
- Relative low cost
- Real-time responses
- Ability to poll a large, diverse variety of consumers
Intercept surveys are an ideal methodology for businesses and organizations to identify:
- Customer satisfaction with a business or organization’s products and services offered
- Improvements and changes consumers would like to see
- The size of different market segments within a geographic region
- Customer reactions to an organization’s future plans
Data Quality and Validation
Quality and integrity of data is our highest priority. Intercept surveys are conducted using laptops and tablets connected to our secure network and managed by Bell’s Business Enterprise Division.
Since we always have staff on-siteteam members can answer any participant questions immediately and provide more assurances to data quality than having respondents take surveys at home. Intercept surveys result in significantly lower levels of repeat patterns and nonsensical or inconsistent answers.
